Under the directives of Acting Deputy of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ayman Abdel Ghani and Acting Head of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector Dr Ahmed Al-Sharkawi, the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector announced the first round of online registration for KG1 and Grade 1 at all Al-Azhar institutes across Egypt for the 2026/2027 academic year. Registration began on Monday, June 1, 2026, and remain available until Thursday, July 16, 2026, via the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Online Admission Portal.
The sector explained that the minimum age for admission to kindergarten on October 1, 2026, is 4 years, while the maximum age is 5 years, 11 months, and 29 days. The minimum age for admission to the first grade of primary school is 6 years, and the maximum age is 9 years.
AL-Azhar Institutes Sector highlighted that the legal guardian bears full responsibility for verifying the accuracy of all data entered electronically. It is crucial to choose the appropriate institute type when applying (regular, model/experimental, or private) and to record the child's name in Arabic script only, avoiding numbers, special symbols, or Latin/foreign characters. Additionally, the sector underscored the necessity of frequently checking the online admission portal to review admission outcomes and finalize all required steps within the designated timeframes.
The sector declared that children already registered for kindergarten in the previous academic year will automatically advance to first grade without requiring new electronic registration, as long as the necessary documents are submitted. It explained that applications to Al-Azhar language institutes are accepted only at the kindergarten’s first level, whereas direct applications for first grade in regular institutes are allowed if vacancies exist and in compliance with applicable regulations.
The sector also encouraged parents interested in enrolling their children in Al-Azhar institutes to register during the announced period and to utilize the e-services offered by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif to streamline the admission process.
