Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar participated in an open discussion session organized by the parliamentary blocs of the House of Representatives and the Senate for the Homat el-Watan Party. The session aimed to exchange views and develop innovative ideas to support the advancement of the healthcare system and the empowerment of Egyptian citizens.
The meeting supports the state’s vision, which places health at the forefront, by strengthening coordination among all entities to achieve comprehensive, high-quality healthcare coverage that is accessible to citizens.
Minister Abdel Ghaffar stated that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi prioritizes the health sector and provides it with unlimited support. He emphasized the importance of open dialogue in shaping the future of upcoming generations and fostering healthier, more productive citizens.
The Minister also reviewed the progress in implementing the National Health Strategy 2024–2030, which comprises 353 key actions and 692 indicators. The strategy covers areas such as strengthening universal health coverage, disease prevention, health security, health equity, digital innovation, and community participation.
Moreover, Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the achievements of the 15 presidential initiatives, which have delivered more than 278.5 million services. He also discussed the development of the treatment-at-state-expense system, kidney dialysis, and emergency services through the “Ra’yat Misr” project, as well as the vaccination program, which has been implemented at a cost of 27 billion Egyptian pounds. Additionally, he highlighted the progress of health insurance, now covering 69.5 million citizens, along with national projects totaling 345.2 billion pounds, including the Nile Medical City.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Abbas Helmy, leader of the Homat el-Watan Party, emphasized the importance of investing in human capital and unifying efforts to achieve innovative solutions, praising the expansion of the comprehensive health insurance system.
Moreover, Dr. Ahmed El-Atifi, chief of the Parliamentary Bloc in the House of Representatives, stated that constructive dialogue serves as a starting point for reform and integration among state institutions.
Furthermore, Mustafa Shawkat, Chief of the Parliamentary Bloc in the Senate, stated that the Egyptian vision prioritizes the health of citizens at the forefront of the New Republic's priorities.
On the other hand, Dr. Hesham El-Sheshtawy, Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, expressed his gratitude to the Minister, emphasizing that meeting the needs of citizens requires collaborative effort.
The meeting concluded by opening the floor for discussion among the MPs, during which proposals were presented concerning the development of mental health services, the distribution of medical staff, the improvement of doctors’ working conditions, addressing population issues, and advancing medical tourism.
