Egypt hosted the founding meeting of the sub-regional organization of Supreme Audit Institutions in African countries that speak Arabic, known as “ARABOSAI – Arabic.”
The Accountability State Authority, which hosted the meeting, stated that the event witnessed broad participation from heads of African Supreme Audit Institutions, as well as ambassadors and members of the diplomatic missions of the organization’s member states accredited to Egypt. Representatives of regional and international organizations and the Secretary-General of the Arab Economic Unity Council also attended.
At the start of his speech, Counselor Mohammad El-Faisal Yousef, President of the Accountability State Authority and President of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), welcomed the participants, emphasizing the significance of this founding moment for launching the sub-regional ARABOSAI—Arabic, given its important implications for Arab-African audit cooperation.
Counselor Yousef highlighted the vast technical expertise of Arab and African Supreme Audit Institutions. He also said there are wide opportunities available to influence the international oversight community, particularly with Egypt currently presiding over INTOSAI.
Counselor Yousef also expressed hope that the Accountability State Authority would serve as a genuine platform for exchanging expertise, strengthening institutional capacity for Arab-African audit work, and establishing mechanisms for continuous consultation and coordination among member institutions.
Meanwhile, the attending heads of member Supreme Audit Institutions voiced their pride in Cairo hosting this founding meeting, underscoring Egypt’s pioneering role in its Arab and African spheres.
