As part of efforts to develop the digital monitoring system for Umrah pilgrims’ journeys and strengthen oversight of the implementation of Umrah programs, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines for organizing Umrah trips for the 1448 AH season approved by Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, “Rafeeq” electronic application has been launched for the first time for Egyptian Umrah pilgrims and tourism company supervisors.
The Central Administration for Tourism Companies launched the application through official app stores. Tourism companies are required to inform pilgrims or their families of the need to download the app and create an account for each pilgrim upon signing the contract, while uploading the required travel documents, most notably the Umrah contract and payment receipt.
The application allows pilgrims to display their personal identification code(QR Code) to the relevant authorities at Egyptian travel ports. It also enables them to confirm their arrival at their contracted accommodation in Makkah or Madinah, as well as confirm their return to Egypt after completing the program, ensuring that the entire journey is electronically monitored at all stages.
The regulations require tourism companies to promptly respond to reports and notifications received through “Rafeeq ” application or other official channels, whether issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities or submitted by pilgrims, ensuring quick action on any observations or complaints.
The regulations also require tourism company supervisors to use the “Rafeeq Supervisor” application as the official platform for monitoring trips. Through the app, supervisors record the group’s departure from the travel point, arrival at accommodation locations in Makkah and Madinah, and later their arrival at return ports in the Arab Republic of Egypt after completing the program.
The launch of the application is part of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ digital transformation plan and its adoption of modern technology in managing the Umrah season. The initiative aims to improve service quality, enhance monitoring and oversight efficiency, and protect the rights of Egyptian Umrah pilgrims.
