Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany
Sowailam said modern irrigation projects contribute to rationalizing water used
for agriculture, improving food security and increasing the productivity of
agricultural crops.
The minister’s remarks came at a meeting held Friday with senior officials of the Irrigation Ministry to follow up the progress of projects of modern irrigation systems currently carried out in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He said such projects also help achieve the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) Egypt Vision 2030 and realize water-related goals.
The minister reviewed the implementation progress of the projects, directing to enhance coordination between the ministry-affiliated bodies and the FAO to support farmers and upgrade the agricultural sector.
