Major General Gamal Awad, Chairman of the National Organization for Social Insurance, stated that the minimum pension will reach EGP 2,080 starting January 2027. He added that only 380,000 people receive the minimum pension, out of approximately 11.5 million pensioners and their beneficiaries.
The statement was made during his participation in the session titled “Market Regulation and a More Effective Social Protection System” at Egypt Forum 2026. The session was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity; Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance; Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade; and a number of experts and specialists.
