Assistant Foreign Minister for US Affairs Sameh Aboul-Enein and the newly appointed Canadian Ambassador to Egypt Ulrich Shannon discussed enhancing economic ties, attracting Canadian investments to Egypt, and boosting trade relations.
During a meeting in Cairo, both sides highlighted the importance of supporting the Canada-Egypt Business Council and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Egypt to align with Egypt's economic development goals.
The Egyptian diplomat expressed the state's particular interest in learning from Canada's pioneering experience in economic development to support its national development efforts, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry's statement.
In a symbolic gesture, the Canadian ambassador presented Aboul-Enein with a commemorative plaque featuring a joint stamp issued by Egypt's National Postal Authority and Ahram Canadian University, celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Canada.
The meeting follows recent diplomatic engagements between Egypt and Canada, including a discussion between Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Canadian counterpart Mélanie Joly on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.
