President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called for a comprehensive development of the Nasser Institute, to become a research center and an integrated medical city, in addition to increasing the institute’s absorptive capacity, raising the efficiency of its infrastructure, and achieving sustainability in the medical services it provides.
The President’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, the President followed up the executive position of the most important national projects in the sectors of health, higher education and scientific research.
The President also directed the establishment of the Egyptian Academy of Mathematical Sciences, similar to the oldest mathematics academies in the world, with the aim of embracing the brilliant in this delicate field and providing them with scientific support.
The President was also briefed on the latest developments in the implementation of presidential initiatives in the health sector, especially the initiative to eliminate waiting lists, as well as the current situation of the progress of work in a number of national projects, especially the National Comprehensive Health Insurance Project and the National Plasma Project, in addition to the developments in the coronavirus situation.
For his part, Minister Abdel Ghaffar highlighted, in this context, the development plan of the Nasser Institute, which will include adding new buildings for internal and pediatric diseases, outpatient clinics, a center and laboratory for genetic disease research, as well as an airstrip and river ambulance service, and the expansion of the oncology building.
He also noted that the institute is one of the most important pillars of the health system in Egypt, as it receives about 1.6 million frequencies annually between advanced surgeries, treatment of tumors, marrow and organ transplants, emergency reception and outpatient clinics.
