Cairo seeks to boost investment, maximize industry role

Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber asserted that during the upcoming period, Cairo governorate will focus on labor-intensive investment as a key driver of growth and a vital element in creating job opportunities.

The governor’s remarks came during his meeting with a delegation of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones led by Mr. Hossam Gafar, Head of the investment sector at the Investment and Free Zones Authority, to discuss aspects of cooperation and support between Cairo governorate and the authority in identifying investment opportunities in the capital and strategies for marketing them.

During his meeting, Saber emphasized that the Investment Authority is a key partner in supporting the governorate in attracting local and international investments through participating in marketing investment opportunities and providing investor services. He noted that Cairo aims to increase investment opportunities and enhance the industry's role to reduce dependence on foreign currency.

Moreover, Saber said the vision of Cairo governorate focuses on two main axes: first, preserving the achievements made in the capital, and second, continuing development efforts.

Saber added that the governorate attaches great importance to creating a better climate for investment in industrial areas and beyond while striving to attract more investments to create job opportunities for youth, reduce unemployment rates, and achieve actual and sustainable economic development in the capital.

Saber also said Cairo governorate, in collaboration with the Investment Authority and the Investment Department of Cairo governorate, will review investment opportunities in the capital to assess their alignment with the governorate's plans. Additionally, a workshop will be organized for the employees of the Investment Department to train them on presenting investment opportunities to the authority's system to help investors become familiar with them.

For his part, Mr. Hossam Gafar, Head of the investment sector at the Investment and Free Zones Authority, confirmed the authority's keenness to provide all forms of support to the Cairo governorate to benefit from all available investment opportunities.
