Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber held a meeting to follow up on the measures taken by the state to restore Historic Cairo and showcase its aesthetic features to preserve it and regain its architectural and urban character.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Cairo Governor Ibrahim Abdel Hady and several officials of the Cairo governorate.
During the meeting, Saber reviewed the necessary mechanisms to expedite the completion of the project, noting that the overall vision of the project is to preserve and improve the social and economic activities within the urban fabric of the area and to turn Cairo into a premier tourist destination to restore its former glory and status.
The development works are collaborative efforts between the Cairo Governorate, the Urban Development Fund, and the Engineering Authority. The restoration project includes the area behind the Hakim Mosque, Um El-Ghulam Street, Al-Husseiny area, Bab Zuwayla, and Darb Al-Labana.
