Health Min., Cairo Gov., inaugurate Children's Epidemiology Care Center

Deputy Prime Minister and Health and Population Minister Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber inaugurated the development project of the Children's Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Care Center at the Abbasia Fever Hospital, stressing the importance of investing in human resources as a fundamental pillar of development. That also comes as a part of the comprehensive development plans adopted by the state under the president's initiative, "A New Beginning for Building the Human." 

The Deputy Prime Minister praised the collaborative efforts among civil society entities and organizations, emphasizing their vital role as essential allies in the success and development of the Egyptian healthcare system across the governorates of Egypt.

Abdel Ghaffar also expressed his gratitude to the leaders and officials of the Ministry of Health and Population and the National Bank of Egypt for their efforts in completing this massive project.

Moreover, Abdel Ghaffar expressed his aspiration to expand future health projects, particularly medical projects aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare services, yielding positive results in achieving social and health welfare for Egyptian patients.

During the inauguration ceremony, Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the Children's Care Complex development project at the Abbasia Fever Hospital. The complex covers an area of 4,400m2 and consists of two floors (ground and first), with the ground floor including 20 intensive care beds, 10 intermediate care beds, and 22 inpatient beds.

The first floor is under construction and will include two departments for pediatric surgery, physical therapy, specialized clinics, and 20 inpatient beds.

Abdel Ghaffar said the facility will significantly help reduce waiting lists for children. He also emphasized that the ministry is keen on investing in health infrastructure to provide all health and treatment services to citizens of all age groups across Egypt.

For his part, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber said that the inauguration of the development project of the Children's Care Complex at the Abbasia Fever Hospital is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Population to enhance the efficiency of the healthcare system in Cairo and provide high-quality medical services to citizens.

Saber also stated that, under the health system development plan directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, state authorities, led by the Ministry of Health and Population, are continuously keen to improving the healthcare system in the capital, developing hospitals, modernizing their facilities and departments, and equipping them with all necessary devices in line with modern medical advancements to meet the needs of citizens.

On the other hand, the CEO of the National Bank of Egypt, Mr. Mohammad El-Etreby, commended the government's efforts to improve the healthcare sector and provide healthcare services that compete global standards.

El-Etreby emphasized that civil society must stand side by side with governmental institutions and entities as part of the state's plan to build and develop Egyptian citizens, asserting his commitment to cooperation and support to continue the successful journey of the healthcare system.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Cairo Governor conducted an inspection tour inside the Children's Infectious Diseases Care Center.

They also visited the children in the inpatient department, checking their health status and ensuring the quality of services they received.

Additionally, Abdel Ghaffar and Saber inspected the intensive care units, praising the quality of medical and therapeutic services. They also hailed the finishing works of the building, which has the highest efficiency standards.

They then proceeded to visit the HIV Immunodeficiency Building, where Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the need to intensify educational and awareness programs among those living with HIV and their families to combat the discrimination and stigma faced by them.

Abdel Ghaffar also stressed the importance of prompt communication and coordination with the relevant authorities to complete the final finishing and electrical works for this building.

The Inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Health and Population Minister Dr. Abla Al-Alfy, Assistant Minister of Hospitals Dr. Ahmad Saafan, Chairman of National Bank of Egypt Mr. Hisham Okasha, Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for Corporate Social Responsibility Dr. Ghada Tawfiq, several officials of the Ministry of Health, pediatric specialists, and representatives of the National Bank.
