Cairo Governorate to hold handicrafts exhibition

Within the framework of Cairo’s 1054th National Day anniversary celebrations, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal announced that a handicraft exhibition would be organized in cooperation with the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency under the title “Cairo Exhibition of Handicrafts” from July 13 to 15 2023 at Hurria Park next to Cairo Opera House.  

A host of  Egyptian handicraft and traditional crafts artisans and artists from the Fustat Pottery village will participate in the exhibition and showcase several handmade products, including kilim rugs and mats, hand-embroidered textiles, Khaymia, Khan El-Khalili products, copper products, handmade leather products, silver accessories, trays, khoos products, pottery, and ceramics.

Cairo celebrates its National day every year on July 6, marking the anniversary of its foundation by the Fatimid leader Jawhar El-Siqilli in 969 AD during the reign of the Fatimid Caliph El-Moez Le-Din Allah Al-Fatimi.

Cairo, known as the city of a thousand minarets, is home to various monuments and landmarks. It is also one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations, whose history dates back to the dawn of human civilization.
