Cairo Governor inspects Gamal Mohammad Ali Park

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inspected Tuesday Major General Gamal Mohammad Ali Park established by the Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority in El-Waha Square, Sharq Madinet Nasr neighborhood.

During his tour, Abdel Aal said that the 5-acre park is part of the governorate’s efforts to increase green spaces across the capital to improve the quality of air and reduce the risks of global warming in line with the Egyptian state’s endeavors to tackle climate change and raise environmental awareness among all segments of society.

Abdel Aal added that the park has a statue at its center built by the Egyptian armed forces in honor of Gamal Mohammad Ali, the manager of military engineers during the Attrition and October wars.

For his part, Chairman of Cairo Beautification and Cleaning Authority Ehab El-Shershaby pointed out that the authority planted 202 palm trees and many eco-friendly trees and built walking loops among trees and a decorative fence surrounding the park.  

Moreover, Abdel Aal inspected the authority’s ongoing work in the Wafaa &Aml cemetery area in Madinet Nasr to upgrade the neighborhood, including removing construction and demolition debris.

At the end of his tour, Abdel Aal asserted that keeping the capital clean is at the top of the governorate’s priorities, given its direct effect on citizens’ health, assuring that all executive bodies seek to improve the quality of citizens’ life. 

Abdel Aal further praised the authority’s efforts to restore the capital’s glory and civilized feature and use the latest technologies to upgrade its systems.
