Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal attended Sunday the inauguration ceremony of the 5th edition of Cairo Water Week held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi from 16 to 19 October 2022 under the theme “Water at the Heart of Climate Action.”
Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hany Sweilam chaired the inauguration ceremony in the presence of ministries of foreign affairs, environment, youth and sports, parliamentary affairs, and the governor of Matrouh.
The Cairo Water Week aims to integrate water issues into climate action and encourage innovations to face pressing water-related challenges using modern technology. It also targets promoting and implementing integrated management policies, coming up with sustainable solutions to confront climate change and overpopulation as part state’s interest in the water-related issue, given it’s a vital element of sustainable development.
This year, CWW, with the participation of many researchers, will tackle climate challenges and their impact on the water sector to act as a preparatory event for the activities of COP27 scheduled to be held next month in Sharm El-Sheikh city.
Moreover, CWW is a unique opportunity for public and private institutions to display programs and innovative ideas related to water, such as desalination, renewable energy, and water-related technology.
