Cairo Gov. honors teachers, students of Cairo literacy program

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal honored Tuesday 25 volunteer teachers and 69 students of Cairo’s Illiteracy Eradication Program in light of the protocol signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity and the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education as part of the Takaful and Karama Program.

 

During the ceremony, Abdel Aal asserted that President El-Sisi’s directives to all state authorities, organizations, and civil society sectors stressed the need for promoting all abilities and implementing formal and informal initiatives to eradicate illiteracy in Egypt.

 

Abdel Aal added that the state prioritized the illiteracy eradication issue to achieve sustainable development goals within the framework of Egypt’s vision 2030.

 

Abdel Aal also pointed out that illiteracy eradication classes in Cairo have increased over the past year from 90 to more than 200, and the number of participating citizens increased as well. He added that the 762 who passed the classes were the fruits of 6-month efforts over two rounds.   

 

The ceremony was attended by Secretary-General Alaa Rashad, Assistant Secretary-General Ibrahim Awad, Director of Cairo’s Education Directorate Mohammad Atia, Director of Cairo’s Social Solidarity Directorate Ahmad Abdel Rahman, General Director of the General Authority of Adult Education in Cairo; Dr. Norhan Sayed, Head of the Regional Federation of NGOs Ezz El-Din Farghal, and several executives of Cairo governorate.
