Abdel Aal welcomed Hiroshi on his first visit to the Cairo governorate headquarters since he took office last March, wishing him success in his diplomatic mission in Egypt.
During the meeting, Abdel Aal and Hiroshi discussed boosting cooperation between Tokyo and Cairo in the framework of the brotherhood agreement signed between the two cities in 1990.
The meeting also tackled the arrangements for the visit of the Governor of Tokyo, Koike Yuriko, to Egypt to participate in the 27th session of the climate change conference that will be held in Sharm El-Sheik city next month.
Abdel Aal asserted that Egyptian Japanese relations are deep and old, noting that the Egyptian people value and respect the Japanese people.
Abdel Aal added that Egypt has named one of Cairo’s road axes after the late Japanese PM Shinzo Abe in appreciation of the Japanese government’s support to Egypt and to reflect the strong ties between the two countries.
Moreover, Abdel Aal welcomed the participation of the Governor of Tokyo in COP27, adding that he is looking forward to meeting her during her visit to discuss several issues concerning strengthening cooperation between Cairo and Tokyo in all fields.
For his part, the Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, Oka Hiroshi, expressed his happiness at visiting Cairo, adding that about 30000 Japanese live in Egypt and enjoy a safe life.
Hiroshi pointed out that Tokyo has a long and unique relationship with Cairo, reflecting the strong friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting, Abdel Aal reviewed the mega projects implemented in Egypt as a cooperation between the Egyptian and Japanese governments, such as the Opera House, Abu El-Reesh Hospital, and Suez Canal Axis expansion.
Abdel Aal further pointed out that Egypt has implemented several mega national projects over the past period, like the new Administrative Capital, and also witnessed rapid development in all fields.
Furthermore, Abdel Aal reviewed national projects implemented to revive and preserve Egypt’s heritage, such as Khedivial Cairo Development Project and Fustat Development Project.
