Cairo Governor attends second pottery festival in Fustat

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal attended the 2nd pottery festival held by the Cairo governorate from 3 to 5 July 2022 under the theme “The Clay Jewelers” at the Pottery Village in the Fustat area, Misr Al-Qadima neighborhood in the presence of Former Minister of Water and Wastewater Utilities and former Cairo Governor; Abdel Qawi Khalif, Deputy Cairo Governor; Eng. Jihan Abdel Moneim, several executives of Cairo governorate and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, visual artists, and fine art professors.       

 

During his visit, Abdel Aal asserted that the festival comes in line with the political leadership’s instructions to develop the Pottery Village in the Fustat area to revive one of Egypt’s oldest traditional crafts. He added that it is also part of the state’s plan to support and encourage artisans, given it reflects our national identity.

 
Moreover, Abdel Aal pointed out that the state has reshaped the whole village to improve the quality of the Egyptian products, adding that the festival will offer citizens high-quality decorative pieces and cookware at competitive prices. 
 

Abdel Aal visited the festival’s pavilions as he checked the new materials used to improve the quality of the products to fit all tastes of pottery lovers locally and globally. 

 

Abdel Aal, furthermore, said that the state attaches great importance to the Pottery Village, which includes 152 workshops on an area of 13 acres, especially since pottery is one of the world’s oldest traditional crafts.

 

Additionally, the governor noted that the governorate seeks to put the Fustat Pottery Village on the tourist destinations map and pottery products promotion programs locally and globally since it has an active role in promoting tourism in the area housing the Religious Complex, the Egyptian Civilization Museum, and the Fustat Hills.

 

The festival also offers various activities for children to help them develop their skills and discover new capabilities of their personalities.
