Cairo Governor honors top winners of Holy Quran competition

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal honored Saturday 66 students from different stages of education after winning at the Quran competition held by the Cairo governorate in cooperation with the Education Directorate and the Endowment Directorate. The honouring ceremony also included cash prizes and certificates of appreciation.        

 

During the ceremony, Abdel Aal asserted that all state institutions spare no effort to support and encourage people who memorize the Holy Quran, noting that the competition aims to consolidate religious and ethical values in students and spread the true principles of religion.      

 

Moreover, Abdel Aal said during his speech that the people of the Holy Quran are the people of Allah and thanked students’ parents for encouraging their children to memorize Quran.            

 

The competition comprises two levels. A special level includes memorizing the whole Quran with interpretation, and a general level categorized into different stages of education where secondary students memorize ten parts of the Quran, preparatory students memorize five parts of the Quran, and elementary students two parts in addition to 40 hadiths.  

 

Abdel Aal added that 230 students applied for the competition, and a total of 66 students passed the tests, of which 19 students won at the  special level as three students got the first place, five got the second, and eleven got the third.  

 

 

Abdel Aal also honored the members of the supervising committee, including the dean of the University of Islamic Call Ahmad Hussein Mohammad, the Head of Islamic Culture Department, University of Islamic Call Adel Mahmoud Abdel Khaliq, and Assistant Professor of Islamic Culture Department, University of Islamic Call Ashraf Shaaban Awad.
