Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal received Saturday Dr. Mpho Phalatsein, the Executive Mayor of Johnsonburg, the second-largest city in Africa after Cairo, in the first official visit of a delegation from South Africa to Cairo governorate. The visit aims to boost cooperation and partnership and exchange experiences between the two sides in various fields.
The meeting tackled the delegation's interest in benefiting from Egypt's leading experiences in eradicating informal settlements and relocating the residents to more decent houses, as well as establishing cities in the new Administrative Capital to apply them in Johnsonburg.
During the meeting, Abdel Aal pointed out that Egypt appreciates and cherishes its relations with the African state and people, which is evident in the presidential visits exchanged between the two countries. He also asserted the depth of brotherly bonds and historical relations between Egypt and South Africa dating back to 1942, when the first South African consulate opened in Egypt.
Moreover, Abdel Aal added that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi and South African president Cyril Ramaphosa share a strong friendship, mutual trust, and deep understanding of all kinds of the continent’s mutual interests.
Abdel Aal, furthermore, said that in addition to the brotherly and friendship bonds between the two countries, there is the Cairo-Cape Town Road which represents a great chance to enhance cooperation and strengthen relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Abdel Aal and Dr. Mpho Phalatsein, along with her accompanying delegation, reviewed the most distinctive and significant features of the capital, stressing the Egyptian state’s keenness to achieve comprehensive development, adding that Cairo has many ongoing national and development projects.
Abdel Aal added that the Egyptian state established the New Administrative Capital to relocate all state ministries and authorities to ease traffic congestion in Cairo, but at the same time, the state did not neglect to develop Cairo as well as preserve its heritage.
