Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal and Minister of Awqaf Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa met Saturday morning a delegation of Ministry of Awqaf's imams and Islamic religious leaders at the grand conference hall at Cairo governorate, as part of Cairo governorate and Ministry of Awqaf collaborative efforts to renew and improve religious discourse and search for new means to activate mosque reconstruction plan.
Abdel Aal welcomed Al-Awqaf's imams and preachers during the periodic meeting organized by the Cairo governorate and the Ministry of Awqaf, stressing the important role of imams and preachers to spread moderate teachings of Islam. He also praised the Islamic religious leaders' efforts to counter extremism and rectifying religious misconceptions.
During his speech, Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa stressed the importance of mosques, especially in Cairo which represents historic and heritage values, hailing the efforts of the Cairo governorate to develop the surrounding areas and squares of mosques across Cairo.
Moreover, Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa urged imams and preachers to follow the Ministry of Awqaf's plan to renew religious discourse and correct religious misconceptions, pointing out that the ministry's officials keen to choose the Friday Prayer sermons to spread the moderate teachings of Islam.
Dr. Gomaa added that the Ministry of Awqaf uses social media outlets and YouTube channels to promote the moderate teachings of Islam through the official website of the ministry.
