Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal received on Sunday Cairo's athletes who won medals at Tokyo 2020 Olympics, including gold Karate medal winner Feryal Ashraf, silver medal winner in Modern Pentagram Ahmed El-Gendi, and the bronze Karate medal winner Giana Farouq.
The governor praised their great achievement and paid tribute to their efforts and distinctive results at the Tokyo games.
Abdel Aal also said that President Sisi's awards to Egypt's champions are a clear message of his support to those who achieve excellence and appreciation for everyone who honors his country.
Abdel Aal added that history would honor their names, wishing them more success and achievements, and always be Egypt's ambassadors in all international events. He also commends coaches and trainers for their efforts to achieve those championships.
Abdel Aal paid a special tribute to the families of the champions who provided them with a good atmosphere and urges Cairo's young men and women to look up to those heroes as role models.
Abdel Aal awarded the three athletes the shield of Cairo governorate and granted their coaches certificates of appreciation and commemorative coins.
Attended the ceremony, Deputies Cairo Governor for north and west areas, Director of Cairo's Youth and Sports Directorate, the Executive Director of El-Maqassa Club, the head of the Tokyo Olympics Egyptian delegation, the president of the Egyptian Karate Federation, Karate Supervisor of the Armed Forces Sports Authority, member of the Egyptian Karate Federation, and the Chief of Cairo Karate Zone.
