Sayed Toman, Deputy Chairman of the National Postal Authority for Regional Affairs, said the Authority has implemented extensive measures to ensure the smooth disbursement of pensions and make the process easier for pensioners.
He explained that pension payments are available through more than 4,700 post office branches nationwide, in addition to over 3,100 ATMs, which are replenished with cash daily—and sometimes several times a day—to meet demand.
Toman noted that the first three days of each month witness the highest demand, with around 4 million pensioners collecting their pensions during this period out of more than 6 million beneficiaries, presenting a significant operational challenge for the Authority.
He added that the total amount disbursed during the first three days of the month ranges between EGP 10 billion and EGP 13 billion, stressing that sufficient cash liquidity is continuously provided at all post offices and ATMs.
The Deputy Chairman also said the Authority operates a central control room that monitors activity across all branches nationwide. Whenever overcrowding is detected, 130 mobile post office vehicles are immediately deployed to the busiest locations to reduce congestion and ensure faster service.
Toman urged pensioners to avoid crowding during the first few days of the month, noting that pensions are now linked to bank accounts and can be withdrawn at any time throughout the month from post office branches, Egypt Post ATMs, or ATMs operated by any bank, without being restricted to specific payment dates.
Responding to complaints from some pensioners about not receiving the remaining small change from their pension payments, Toman clarified that any remaining balance stays securely in the pensioner's current account and is not deducted. Instead, it continues to earn interest according to the applicable account tier, ensuring that pensioners' funds remain fully protected.
