Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber conducted a field inspection tour of several neighborhoods in the Basatin district, including Al-Me’rag El-Oulwi and El-Sufli, to follow up on the quality of citizen services and ongoing development work. The tour also aims to identify residents’ needs.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ashraf Mansour, along with the CEO and Managing Director of E-Nasr Housing and Development Company and several executives and senior officials from the Cairo governorate.
During the tour, Governor Saber inspected ongoing tree planting efforts, the expansion of green spaces, and the upgrading of traffic islands and parks, particularly at the entrance to Hasaballah El-Kafrawi. He also instructed to increase tree planting and preserve green spaces in a way that reflects the character of the district and enhances the aesthetic and urban appearance of its streets and squares.
Saber also said that vital community participation plays a crucial role in supporting the state's development and greening efforts. He stressed the need to enhance the role of civil society organizations, NGOs, businessmen, and local residents in planting trees and beautifying streets and public squares in coordination with executive authorities to ensure the sustainability and preservation of development and tree planting projects.
During the tour, the governor directed the relevant authorities to initiate the formal procedures for naming a side street off Al‑Israa Street, located in the Ninth Neighborhood of Al‑Me'rag El‑Sufli, after the late Brigadier General Ahmed Samir. This measure is to honor his sacrifice for the nation, particularly as his family lives on that street. He further underscored the Cairo Governorate's dedication to recognizing the country's martyrs, acknowledging their sacrifices, and safeguarding their legacy for coming generations.
The governor also inspected several streets, entrances, and surrounding areas in Al‑Me'rag to follow up on the removal of encroachments and illegal occupations from pavements and public roads. He directed the implementation of the necessary measures to ease traffic congestion and preserve citizens' right to use pavements and roads.
Saber further inspected the ongoing development of roads and public squares, including road paving, as well as the upgrading of sidewalks and curbs. He directed that the works be implemented at the highest level of quality and emphasized the importance of regular maintenance to sustain the development efforts.
The tour also included an inspection of street lighting and the upgrading of lighting poles. The governor directed authorities to rapidly respond to any malfunctions and enhance the efficiency of the lighting system to improve nighttime visibility, increase public safety, and enhance the overall appearance of the area.
