Mohamed Abdel Latif, Egypt's Minister of Education and Technical Education, approved the first-round 2025/2026 Thanaweya Amma (General Secondary Certificate) results on Tuesday evening, with a 75.1% pass rate under the new system and 72.1% under the old system.
Under the new system, 883,690 students registered for the first-round exams, 825,867 sat the exams, and 620,314 passed, resulting in a 75.1% pass rate.
In the Science stream (new system), 543,120 students registered, 507,415 took the exams, and 382,720 passed, for a 75.4% success rate.
In the Mathematics stream (new system), 145,459 students registered, 139,302 sat the exams, and 113,651 passed, achieving the highest pass rate of 81.6%.
In the Literary stream (new system), 195,111 students registered, 179,150 took the exams, and 123,943 passed, for a 69.2% pass rate.
Under the old system, 4,172 students registered for the first-round exams, 3,620 attended, and 2,610 passed, resulting in a 72.1% pass rate.
For the Science stream (old system), 2,506 students registered, 2,118 attended, and 1,578 passed, yielding a 74.5% pass rate.
In the Mathematics stream (old system), 513 students registered, 427 attended, and 307 passed, with a 71.9% pass rate.
In the Literary stream (old system), 1,153 students registered, 1,075 attended, and 725 passed, resulting in a 67.4% pass rate.
