Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, has issued a ministerial decree assigning the 107th cohort of male and female graduates of Egyptian universities and higher institutes who hold Egyptian nationality to perform one full year of public service, effective October 1, 2026.
The decree applies to all female graduates of universities and higher institutes from the first round of 2026. It also applies to male graduates who have been exempted from military service, as well as those whose services exceed the needs of the Armed Forces, provided that three years have passed since they were placed on reserve status, among first-round 2026 graduates of universities and higher institutes.
The decree also includes young people who were previously assigned to public service in earlier cohorts but failed to perform the service within the specified deadlines. Registration has been opened for them at public service offices within their respective areas of residence during official working hours, starting this month.
Public service is one of the important mechanisms for supporting the state’s administrative apparatus. It aims to integrate young people into society, foster a spirit of community participation, and prepare them for the labor market through practical training and the acquisition of new skills, thereby contributing to the development of their professional capabilities.
Public service assignments cover various fields across a number of ministries and entities, including the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Al-Azhar Institutes sector, the Public Prosecution, the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, the National Social Insurance Authority, and the Ministries of Supply and Internal Trade, Justice, Culture, and Electricity and Renewable Energy, as well as the General Health Insurance Authority. Other fields are also available according to the needs of each governorate. The total number of public service assignees during 2025/2026 reached approximately 140,276.
