The National Food Safety Authority issued 4,130 food export consignments totaling approximately 185,000 tons, with Arab countries as the main destinations. Meanwhile, total imports reached 2,174 consignments totaling 137,000 tons. The authority also intensified inspections at ports, detaining and re-exporting non-compliant consignments to ensure smooth operations and protect citizens’ health.
The authority received 160 complaints through various channels and conducted extensive field inspection campaigns targeting 674 food establishments across different governorates. Immediate corrective measures were taken in response to violations, with rapid action on citizens’ complaints to ensure the safe circulation of food.
The authority continued registering dietary supplements and licensing food-related public establishments, while intensifying inspections of the dairy sector, tourist establishments, mobile food units, and slaughterhouses to ensure compliance with approved technical and health requirements.
The authority’s branches across the governorates carried out 1,499 inspection missions covering 4,852 food establishments. The campaigns resulted in the destruction of quantities of food unfit for human consumption and the licensing of new refrigerated and cold-storage facilities after meeting the required standards.
Joint inspection campaigns with the Supply Police and relevant authorities in several governorates resulted in the seizure of large quantities of meat, poultry, pickles, and unidentified and expired products. Legal action was taken against the violators.
