The Ministry of Health and Population announced that the therapeutic institution has achieved a comprehensive qualitative transformation in the level of medical services and infrastructure at its affiliated hospitals since February 2026 as part of the ministry's strategy to upgrade healthcare facilities and enhance the quality of care provided to citizens.
The official spokesperson of the ministry, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stated that Heliopolis Hospital witnessed the opening of economic and private intensive care units with a capacity of 8 beds each and a pediatric care unit with 11 beds, along with the development of operating rooms, renovation of the façade, and the provision of ventilators, monitoring screens, ECG machines, defibrillators, and surgical lighting.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammad Shokair, Chairman of the Therapeutic Institution, added that Maadi Mabra Hospital underwent façade and reception upgrades, renovation of the main entrance, renewal of five operating rooms, establishment of a pharmacy warehouse, and an emergency care unit with four beds. Additionally, fetal medicine and women's oncology clinics were introduced, along with minimally invasive open-heart surgery services. Training programs and cooperation protocols were also launched.
Shokair continued that Islamic Islah Hospital underwent upgrades to its façade, entrance, and waiting hall; the CT scan department was opened; an obstetrics and gynecology operating room was added; the neonatal care unit was developed; five economic intensive care beds were incorporated into the stroke system; and the oxygen networks, air conditioning, and utilities were modernized.
Shokair added that Misr El-Qadima Mabra Hospital has achieved comprehensive development of its operating rooms, established an economic intensive care unit with five beds, created a Pain treatment center, upgraded interventional radiology with a new CT scanner, replaced the catheterization machine, implemented digital transformation, and performed advanced interventions in neurosurgery, cardiac, and vascular surgeries, while hosting international experts.
At Coptic Hospital in Cairo, the women's department was completely renovated. The "Makar" ward was converted into a 20-bed intensive care unit. Elevators, sewage, and fire safety systems were upgraded, a new power generator was installed, and the operating rooms and intensive care units were modernized.
