Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, held at the museum’s headquarters in the Fustat area, which he opened by welcoming the honorable members of the board.
During the meeting, the minister ratified the minutes of the previous session of the board. He also discussed and approved the financial statements and the revised final accounts of the museum authority for the fiscal year 2025/2026, in the presence of members of the Accountability State Authority and officials from the museum’s financial and administrative departments.
The minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the members of the Accountability State Authority for their efforts on the issues presented. He also instructed the specialists at the Museum Authority to coordinate the necessary executive measures accordingly.
The meeting also featured a presentation comparing revenues and expenditures achieved during the fiscal year 2025/2026 with the estimated budget set for that year.
Chief Executive of the museum authority Dr. El‑Tayeb Abbas reviewed visitor statistics of Egyptians and foreigners during the fiscal year 2025/2026, compared with the previous fiscal year.
The board discussed and approved a proposal to increase ticket prices for entry to the archaeological halls and restoration laboratories of the museum administration, effective April 1st. It also approved granting tourism companies a new discount of 5% on the value of tickets for entry to the museum exhibition halls when purchasing bundled tickets ranging between 250 and 500, with the validity of the bundled tickets set at three months from the date of purchase.
Moreover, the meeting discussed and approved the code of conduct and booking instructions for school trips through the “Rahla” Platform launched by the ministry to facilitate reservations, thereby contributing to enhancing archaeological and cultural awareness among school students.
