The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, warned citizens today, about the risks of dealing with pest and rodent control companies that are not licensed by the Ministry of Health, as this could expose them to serious respiratory illnesses. He stressed the importance of ensuring that such companies comply with public health regulations.
Abdel Ghaffar said: “The Ministry of Health has published a clear statement on its social media pages listing the names of licensed pest control companies. There are currently 163 approved companies nationwide, and the list is updated regularly.” He urged citizens to verify that pest control companies are properly licensed before hiring them through social media or advertisements.
Abdel Ghaffar added that most unlicensed companies do not meet the required health and safety standards for citizens. He explained that the Ministry has recently observed an increase in advertisements and entities offering pest and rodent control services through social media without any licenses.
He continued: “Therefore, these companies are not subject to oversight and do not have permanent premises. In addition, the substances they use may be unregistered or have inappropriate concentrations, and they may be applied incorrectly without taking the necessary precautions before and after spraying.”
He noted that using unknown or unregistered substances at incorrect concentrations may cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system, and could lead to more severe symptoms, particularly among children, the elderly, and people with allergies or asthma.
The Ministry of Health spokesperson advised citizens to check the original license before allowing any company to provide pest control services at their facility or home and to verify its details against the list published on the Ministry’s official website to ensure that the license is valid.
