Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad has approved the disbursement of EGP 6,042,257.92 from the Central Account for Health and Social Care for Irregular Workers. The funds will provide accident compensation grants, special grants, and health and social care benefits for 491 irregular workers and their families across several governorates. This measure is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to support and protect this category of workers, ensure rapid assistance for those affected and their families, and implement President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to strengthen the social protection system for irregular workers.
The approved allocations include EGP 2.8 million in accident compensation grants for the families of 14 fishermen who lost their lives in a collision involving a pickup truck on the 30 June Axis Road in Dakahlia Governorate. A total of 55 family members will benefit, with each deceased worker's family receiving EGP 200,000. Procedures are also underway to disburse compensation for four additional cases.
The Minister also approved EGP 1.64 million for the families of eight agricultural workers who died and two workers who were injured in a collision between a jumbo transport truck and a pickup truck in Menoufia Governorate. Each deceased worker's family will receive EGP 200,000, while each injured worker will receive EGP 20,000, benefiting a total of 27 people.
In addition, the approved allocations include EGP 1.45 million in special grants for June 2026 for 269 workers across 24 governorates, as well as EGP 152,257.92 to cover health and social care expenses—including hospital and pharmacy costs—for June 2026, benefiting 165 workers in seven governorates.
Minister Raddad emphasized that these allocations reflect the state's commitment to turning social protection into tangible support that improves the lives of irregular workers and their families, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives. He stressed that the Ministry will continue to expedite the disbursement of benefits, enhance the health and social care system, and expand protection and support for irregular workers, describing them as a national priority in achieving a decent standard of living and strengthening the social safety net.
