On January 3^rd, 2007, Cairo Governorate launched the Cairo portal under the cooperation protocol between Cairo Governorate and Egypt's Ministry of State for Administrative Development signed on June 13^th, 2005, which requires the implementation of the Administration's Modernization Program.

 The Administration's Modernization Program aims to develop the administrative work in the country, lay the foundation of E-government, increase the country's administrative efficiency, and contribute to the digital transformation in Egypt, as the program adopts the concepts of e-business to accomplish the daily activities and work in the governorate.

Within the framework of the governorate's efforts to achieve the portal's development and excellence and in implementation of the Ministry of State for Administrative Development's policy on developing e-portals across Egypt constantly, the Cairo portal updates its SharePoint version continuously.
