Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber conducted an inspection tour to follow up on development works for the second phase of the Magra El-Oyoun Aqueduct, as part of the state and Cairo Governorate’s efforts to upgrade historic areas and enhance their visual appeal.
The Cairo Governor also followed up on restoration and development works around the Imam Al-Shafi’i Mosque, as well as efficiency upgrades and maintenance works for the heritage buildings surrounding the area. He stressed the need to preserve the architectural and heritage character of the buildings and enhance their condition in a manner that maintains the area’s historical value.
The Cairo Governor noted that the development of historic areas is part of the governorate’s plan to upgrade Cairo and restore prominence to areas of historical and heritage value, while preserving their distinctive character and improving their surroundings in ways that contribute to enhancing residents’ quality of life and the capital’s overall urban appearance.
The Cairo Governor also stressed the need for continuous follow-up of ongoing works and coordination among the relevant authorities to ensure that development and upgrading works are carried out in accordance with the designated plans, while preserving the heritage and historical elements that distinguish the area.
