General Director of the Al-Azhar Global Center for Online Fatwa, Dr. Osama El-Hadidi, announced that it will launch soon a specialized digital platform for Egyptian families. The platform will provide content, videos, and books that support family life and bonds and will host participants in training and qualification programs for both soon-to-be-married couples and married couples.
El-Hadidi also said that the platform will organize an annual competition to select the best family that successfully applies the program’s outcomes in real life. The winning family will be awarded a Hajj trip, while four other families throughout the year will be awarded Umrah trips, based on continuous evaluation of family stability, social influence, and personal interviews to assess skills in handling family challenges.
The announcement came during a graduation ceremony honoring 15 groups — nearly 600 young men and women — who completed Al-Azhar’s preparatory program for marriage and family life. The event was held at Al-Azhar Conference Center in Nasr City, coinciding with the Prophet’s birthday, and attended by senior Al-Azhar officials, scholars, and graduates.
El-Hadidi also stated that efforts are underway to sign a cooperation protocol between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Justice to provide free, official training for all engaged couples. Graduates will receive a certificate recognized as a license of scientific, psychological, and behavioral qualifications to support family stability.
Moreover, El-Hadidi reviewed the project beginnings, adding that the center’s early observations showed high rates of fatwas related to divorce, family breakdown, financial disputes, and decision-making conflicts. This led to the creation of the “Family Reunification Unit” and a comprehensive study of conflict causes to design preventive strategies.
Under the guidance and auspices of Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb, a specialized team of experts in psychiatry, psychology, sociology, Islamic sciences, and education prepared integrated content to protect families before problems arise.
El-Hadidi added that the next phase will expand free training programs across Al-Azhar institutes and universities nationwide. This will be a collaborative effort with the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector, Al-Azhar University, public and private universities, and all community groups.
El-Hadidi concluded his speech, saying that this initiative reflects Al-Azhar’s educational, preaching, and fatwa-related message. It is also upholding the noble values of Prophet Mohammad.
