Egypt launches ‘Inta El Hal’ campaign warning of health risks from overeating

Under the slogan “Inta El Hal” (“It Is in Your Hands”), Egypt’s Ministry of Health launched an advertising campaign to raise public awareness about the potential health risks of consuming excessive amounts of unhealthy food and desserts during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Buy only what you need during Ramadan, and remember that overeating unhealthy food leads to numerous diseases,” the ministry said in its campaign.

Another ad says: “The desserts you pay for today with your wallet may cost you your health tomorrow. Let’s cut back on sugar this Ramadan.”

Many families in Egypt prepare a wide variety of dishes, particularly for family and social gatherings, believing they will eat large quantities after fasting for more than 12 hours a day. As a result, some individuals experience health problems and become more vulnerable to conditions such as diabetes, heart attacks, and digestive disorders.
