Egypt to launch ‘Abwab El-kheir’ social protection system for vulnerable families

The Tahya Misr Fund, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, launch the "Abwab El-kheir" (Doors of Goodness) initiative on Tuesday. The launch follows the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen social safety nets.

This initiative represents the largest social protection system designed to support deserving and vulnerable families throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The "Abwab El-kheir" initiative will provide four million hot meals prepared in the Tahya Misr Fund’s kitchens. Additionally, the Fund will participate in the "Mahrousa" kitchens affiliated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The campaign also includes the distribution of three million food boxes to families in need via nationwide convoys that will cover all governorates during the month.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Social Solidarity and its NGO partners will continue operating the "Ahl El-Khair" and "Mahrousa" kitchens. This network involves 286 partners operating across 657 "Ahl El-Khair" distribution points, providing hot meals for both Iftar and Suhoor across the country.
