Minister of Electricity and
Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met on Friday with Markus Hauerkamp, CEO of
German company BAUKO, and Alaa Fouad, the company’s Middle East director, as
part of Egypt’s strategy to support domestic industry, localize advanced
technologies, and increase local content in national projects.
The discussions focused on collaboration in manufacturing pipelines, piping systems, fittings, and inspection chambers, as well as transferring and localizing BAUKO’s technology for producing high-strength, high-pressure pipes made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP).
The meeting also reviewed BAUKO’s work plan and foreign investments, exploring mechanisms to localize production of pipeline systems, spiral-wound pipes, plastic-formed pipes, and composite materials such as HDPE reinforced with fiberglass or steel wire. Minister Esmat emphasized that Egypt’s industrial strategy is guided by presidential directives to expand renewable energy and accelerate solar and wind projects. He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to supporting domestic manufacturing, modernizing electrical equipment production, promoting local products in renewable energy projects, and diversifying the national energy mix to achieve sustainable development
