Turkish President to visit Egypt in 2026

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed preparations for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s upcoming visit to Cairo in 2026, where he is set to chair the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. The ministers also reviewed mechanisms for implementing the outcomes of the recent Joint Planning Group meeting held in Ankara.

Abdelatty and Fidan exchanged views on developments in Gaza, stressing the importance of implementing the latest UN Security Council resolution and enabling the international peacekeeping force to carry out its mandate. They also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to reinforce the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and support the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The meeting further covered a range of regional issues of mutual interest.
