Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the importance of government efforts to secure the necessary petroleum supplies to ensure the uninterrupted operation of power stations.
He also stressed the need to increase the share of new and renewable energy within Egypt’s national energy mix.
Sisi directed intensifying efforts to attract further investments into the energy sector, contributing to the achievement of its strategic goals and enhancing its role in driving national development.
He also called for accelerating the implementation of ongoing renewable energy projects to diversify energy sources and advance the localization of industries related to this vital and strategic sector.
This came during a meeting held between President Sisi, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Executive Director of the “Future of Egypt” Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa El-Ghannam.
Presidential Spokesman Mohammad El-Shennawi stated that the meeting reviewed the joint work between the ministries of electricity and renewable energy and petroleum and mineral resources, along with the “Future of Egypt” Authority, particularly efforts to provide electric power to new agricultural projects under the Authority’s supervision, topped by the “New Delta” project.
The discussions also covered updates on the construction of electrical substations for agricultural reclamation zones, in line with the state’s efforts to bolster food security.
Coordination between the two ministries to secure the necessary fuel for electricity production was also addressed.
The president also reviewed progress in implementing Egypt’s national energy strategy until 2040, the national renewable energy strategy and the status of clean energy projects.
The review included discussions on increasing reliance on clean energy in the national mix and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, reflecting the state’s deep commitment to the energy sector.
The meeting also presented ongoing efforts to improve the quality of electricity supply and reduce power losses, especially within distribution networks, to ensure sustainability and system stability.
In this regard, President Sisi stressed the need to continue implementing the comprehensive plan to achieve energy security and to expand the country’s reliance on clean and renewable energy sources.
