Random inspections at gas stations to ensure quality, compliance with standards

Following recent complaints about petrol quality harming car gas tanks, Egypt's Ministry of Supply is stepping up inspections at gas stations to ensure fuel availability, quality, and compliance with standards.

The Ministry's regulatory sector, the Consumer Protection Agency, and the General Administration of Supply Investigations are coordinating to visit the largest number of gas stations nationwide to monitor petroleum products (diesel, 80, 92, and 95 octane gasoline), as well as distribution outlets.

The regulatory bodies at the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade have formed working groups to monitor gas stations and ensure that all types of diesel and gasoline offered comply with standard specifications. They are issuing reports on violators and taking legal action against anyone attempting to commit violations to harm consumer rights.
