Minister of Religious Endowments Usama Al-Azhari has launched the "Correct Your Concepts" initiative to address over 40 pressing societal issues related to moral and behavioral decline.
The initiative aims to foster awareness, provide solutions, and inspire a collective ethical revival among the people of Egypt.
It also seeks to rebuild a value system that reflects the nation's identity and heritage, Al-Azhari told reporters following a cabinet meeting.
He noted that following its official launch on Wednesday,July 30 the initiative's activities would include disseminating multimedia content throughout the nation.
Al-Azhari added that as part of the initiative, a one-year scheme will be carried out to build societal awareness grounded in sound religious and humanistic principles and shield individuals from misguided ideologies and destructive behaviors.
He added that the scheme also seeks to promote a modern religious discourse that balances tradition with contemporary realities and to counter intellectual and behavioral challenges with a rigorous, scientifically based approach.
The initiative addresses a wide range of issues, including cheating on exams, violating traffic signals, speeding while driving, not wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones while driving, throwing stones at trains, driving in the wrong direction, disrespecting traffic signals, disrespecting the elderly, smoking and e-cigarette use, drug abuse, violence against children, challenges faced by street children, suicide related to heroin use, fireworks, and other harmful activities affecting children, as well as children's addiction to social media.
It will also address inappropriate treatment of tourists, bullying, harm to people with disabilities, assaulting neighbors, bribery, suicide, and pessimism. It will cover football fanaticism and family disintegration, lack of cooperation among family members, husbands refraining from helping their wives, family disputes, vandalism of public property, social media addiction and its impact on families, wasteful water consumption, school violence, pornography addiction, littering in the streets, inappropriate provision of aid to the needy, lack of communication between parents and children, financial fraud, misinterpretation of Quranic verses, misconceptions about jihad, and the legitimization of obscenity and violence. Additionally, issues such as atheism, questioning the value of the homeland, portraying the homeland as "a handful of dust," and the spread of confusion, negativity, doubt, and pessimism are also covered.
