Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdelatty received, Park Beom-kye, the Special Envoy of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung as part of supporting bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.

Both sides affirmed their aspiration to develop bilateral relations, especially with this year's celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation and build on the achievements of the bilateral economic partnership launched during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to South Korea in 2016, followed by the visit of the South Korean President to Egypt in 2022.

Minister Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to convene the Joint Ministerial Committee, chaired by the two foreign ministers, to contribute to strengthening cooperation and a strong partnership between the two countries at all levels, and to develop a shared vision for enhancing cooperation in new fields aimed at localizing various industries in Egypt.

The Egyptian minister also highlighted the promising investment opportunities offered by major projects being implemented in Egypt, including those in the New Administrative Capital and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as well as investment opportunities in the fields of green hydrogen and clean and renewable energy.

He expressed his aspiration to establish a Korean zone in the Suez Canal Special Economic Zone within the framework of joint manufacturing and industrial localization, benefiting from the legislative and financial incentives offered by Egypt and its multiple comparative advantages.

At the international level, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his aspiration to continue coordination with South Korea in multilateral international forums, especially in light of its non-permanent membership in the Security Council.

Minister Abdelatty also expressed his aspiration to strengthen trilateral cooperation in Africa, particularly in light of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on the sidelines of the Korea-Africa Summit in June 2024.
