Egypt, UNICEF mull ways to foster healthcare coop.

Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has discussed with Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Egypt Nathalie Meyer ways to cement cooperation on healthcare, nutrition and mental health.

The minister congratulated Meyer on assuming her new position and wished her further success as a representative of the organization in Egypt, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.

Both sides also probed ways to boost cooperation on developing advanced future plans to back the health system in Egypt and strengthen Egypt's roles to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

They also discussed means to enhance cooperation to back the Presidential initiative "The Golden Thousand Days for the Development of the Egyptian Family", which aims to improve the qualitative characteristics of the population to achieve development and improve reproductive rates.

The initiative is one of the most important initiatives to build the Egyptian person, as it represents a holistic approach to the first 1000 days of human life, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of the first thousand days of life, as 85% of the child's mental, psychological and physical abilities are formed during this vital period.
