Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has pledged "full support" to revitalize the National Media Authority (NMA), aiming to restore its leadership in the regional media landscape and modernize its digital presence.
In a Monday meeting with the prime minister, NMA Chairman Ahmed El-Moslemany reviewed several measures to modernize Maspero, the government-owned media institution:
-New Digital Platform: A dedicated platform is being developed to monetize Maspero’s vast historical archives.
-Social Media Expansion: For the first time, a specialized firm has been hired to manage the authority’s digital footprint.
-Structural Changes: Plans include merging underperforming channels, upgrading others, and reforming Sawt Al-Qahira (Sono Cairo).
-The January Deadline: A final, comprehensive roadmap for restructuring and efficiency will be unveiled by late January.
On a different front, the government is resolving long-standing debts between the NMA and the National Investment Bank to ensure long-term stability.
Hussein Issa, who leads a committee reforming government authorities, said the Ministry of Finance has submitted proposals to boost the NMA's resources, shifting the institution toward financial sustainability rather than total state dependence.
