The Aircraft Factory, one of the Arab Organization for Industrialization’s (AOI) key production facilities, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese state-owned China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO).

The agreement underscores the AOI’s distinguished position and leading role in localizing advanced technologies within the defense industry. It was signed on the first day of the fourth edition of Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2025), which is being held at the Egypt International Exhibition and Convention Center in Cairo, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel-Latif, Chairman of the AOI, expressed his appreciation for the partnership with Norinco. He explained that the cooperation will focus on technology localization and expanding the local manufacturing of defense systems by leveraging the Aircraft Factory’s advanced capabilities. He added that the AOI’s factories aim to serve as a hub for strengthening cooperation, building partnerships, and exchanging expertise with Norinco to meet the needs of Egypt as well as friendly and allied nations.

For their part, senior officials from Norinco voiced their pride in partnering with the AOI, describing it as the industrial backbone of the Egyptian state. They affirmed that the MoU marks the beginning of broader cooperation with the AOI across a range of advanced defense industries.
