Egypt, Saudi Arabia discuss development of CEDARE

Dr. Manal Awad, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Minister of Local Development, and Acting Minister of Environment, participated as Vice-Chairperson in the 19th meeting of Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) Board of Trustees, chaired by Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli of Saudi Arabia. The meeting brought together ministers, representatives, and regional organizations to discuss the Center’s future direction.

Dr. Awad highlighted the importance of the meeting, which coincides with a new phase of institutional and structural reform aimed at addressing escalating environmental and political challenges, strengthening cooperation between the Arab region and Europe, and expanding engagement with African countries. She emphasized the need to focus on impactful environmental, economic, and social projects that support national development plans and improve citizens’ quality of life.

Participants commended the contributions of current and former leadership in strengthening CEDARE’s role. The meeting also addressed amendments to the Center’s bylaws, reviewed governance structures, and discussed deliverables to be achieved by the end of 2025, with agreement to finalize remaining amendments in a follow-up meeting.
