Egypt PM in China to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus summit

Egypt’s prime minister, Mustafa Madbouli, departed to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus summit, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The summit, held in the northern city of Tianjin from 31 August to 1 September, will bring together heads of state and government under the theme Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: SCO on the Move, according to the cabinet.

Madbouli will deliver Egypt’s address and hold high-level talks with senior officials and executives from leading Chinese firms.

The SCO was founded in 2001 by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and has since expanded into a regional bloc focused on political, economic, and security cooperation.
