Egypt achieves accomplishments modernizing its national statistical system

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, Elena Panova, affirmed that Egypt has achieved significant accomplishments in modernizing its national statistical system, promoting innovation, expanding international cooperation, and ensuring that no group is marginalized.

She also expressed the United Nations' pride in the close partnership with Egypt in enhancing data collection, analysis, and use to serve sustainable development policies and strengthen national capacities.

This came during the conference celebrating World Statistics Day, which is celebrated every five years. This year's theme is "Leading Change Through High-Quality Statistics and Data for the Benefit of All." The conference was organized by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Monday, under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and in the presence of Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat.

The UN official explained that this year's celebration coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, an anniversary that embodies a lofty goal and a continuing shared will.

Since its inception, the United Nations has relied on one fundamental element in all its efforts—from maintaining peace and security to achieving sustainable development, climate action, and education—that is, reliable data.

She noted the UN Secretary-General's emphasis on the importance of accurate, timely, and detailed data to address the complex and interconnected challenges of our time, from rising inequalities and climate change to digital transformation and economic recovery.
