Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has discussed in a meeting with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, ways of fostering cooperation between the two countries in the energy field, especially with the engagement of some American oil companies for the first time in research and exploration activities in Egypt, most notably Chevron and ExxonMobil.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 10th annual Powering Africa Summit, which was held in Washington DC on March 6-7, according to a statement released by the Petroleum Ministry.
The two sides explored the possibility of boosting cooperation in developing the fields of the Eastern Mediterranean region and transferring natural gas produced from those fields through Egyptian liquefaction facilities.
