Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Yasmin Fouad, Minister of Environment, held a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the New Administrative Capital.
Both sides discussed the integration between the two ministries in the areas of reducing emissions and the latest developments in the efforts of oil and gas companies to comply with environmental requirements.
During the meeting, Egypt emphasized full commitment to international treaties to preserve the climate and environment, reduce carbon emissions, and the importance of modern technologies in implementing oil and gas production targets with the least possible impact on the environment.
In addition, a roadmap was discussed to continue implementing emission reduction projects in various petroleum sector companies according to specific timetables, taking into account the needs and conditions of various petroleum work sites, as well as reviewing the efforts of the petroleum sector during the past period in implementing campaigns to measure emission levels.
The meeting was attended by Geologist Alaa El-Batal, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Supervisor of Safety, Environment and Energy Efficiency, and Eng. Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Minister's Office and Technical Office and Official Spokesperson.
