Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber expressed his happiness about Cairo’s joining the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. He noted that this achievement aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 and supports the government's plan to promote lifelong learning by preserving heritage, fostering innovation, strengthening community connections, expanding empowerment opportunities, improving quality of life, and advancing sustainable development.
This came during a meeting of the Executive Council of the Cairo Governorate, attended by the deputy governors, directorate directors, district chiefs, and several other officials from the governorate.
Moreover, Governor Saber stated that the global network's website, which includes 425 cities from 91 countries, describes Cairo as "the capital of Egypt and its cultural center. It blends heritage and modern development in a diverse urban environment with a population of 10 million."
Saber also praised the governorate's efforts to enhance learning via heritage, aiming to improve the quality of life. He commended the Ministry of Local Development and the National Commission for UNESCO for their roles in the national evaluation process, which selected the best submissions after a thorough review.
